Redlands, San Bernardino County
Redlands grew rich on navel oranges in the 1890s, and wealthy Easterners built winter homes along its ridges. Several survive, including Kimberly Crest, a chateau-style house of 1897 surrounded by terraced gardens. A few working groves are kept inside the city limits, and brick packing houses still stand beside the railroad tracks downtown.
